San Diego

Last month we took a family vacation to San Diego.  Tony's parents came with us and his sister met us there as well.  The weather was perfect and Heisman was such a great traveler and sleeper!! We were really busy for a few days.  Legoland was fun but waiting in lines wasn't!  The zoo was great and we would only spend a few minutes at each animal and then Heisman would say, "Let's keep moving."  He didn't want to stop for very long.  At SeaWorld he got to feed the sea lions and penguins and see the dolphins and whales do some awesome tricks.  The rest of the time was spent at the beach where we played in the sand, splashed in the water and raced away from the waves.  We had a great time!

Doesn't Tony look way too big for this ride?!?! Hilarious!

3rd birthday!

I can't believe Heisman is already three years old!!!!  We had a little party on his birthday at our house with some local family and friends where we enjoyed a yummy Spiderman cake.  He got a new bike, a necklace (like his cousins) and a ton of dinosaurs!  He was so excited about his birthday party!  Over the next two weeks we traveled to Algona and celebrated with more cake and presents and saw Tony's family as well.  It was a 2 week birthday celebration with three different cakes :)

I interviewed him on his bday and here is what it went like:
What is your name? Heisman Anthony Dickinson
How old are you? Three
What is your favorite color? Red
Who is your best friend? Dad....Me: What?!?!?!
What is your favorite toy? Dinosaurs... Tyrannosaurus Rex
What do you want to do when you grow up?  Where do you want to work? At mom's school
What do you think the baby is mom's tummy is? A girl and I'm ok with that.

Summerfest

Last weekend was Ankeny's summer celebration, Summerfest.  We took Heisman to the carnival on Thursday night where he rode a few rides and played the duck pond game.  He loved the rides, especially the Sizzler with Tony!  Of course Tony had to play the basketball game!  We also went to the parade on Saturday which was super hot!!!  Heisman got a bucket full of candy but was ready to leave the parade after an hour and a half.  I think the parade lasts 2+ hours!  Since we had plenty of candy and he was really sweaty we left early.  I was kind of glad he wanted to leave too :)

June

June has been a busy month!  We usually go to the pool a few times a week or play in Heisman's little pool on the patio.  There are always neighbor kids to play with too!  We enjoyed a day at the lake with my sister and her boys, went to the dentist and got to go onto the field for the coin toss at the Barnstormers game.... I forgot to mention that Heisman is now potty trained!  He would go to the bathroom every once in awhile before bath time but I was waiting until school was out so we could work on it this summer.  The first week of summer we went to the store and picked out some super hero underwear and then he decided he was done with diapers and wanted to wear his undies!  That was all it took!  He never had a single accident (he still wears diapers to bed).  It was the easiest thing ever!  I guess I waited long enough until he was really ready.  Oh, he also has to go to the bathroom every time we are at church.  He will try and get away with 2 trips to the bathroom but now I say one is enough!

Zoo

We have had a busy week!  Tuesday was Tony's birthday so we went to his office for lunch and Heisman was showing off and being really crazy for everyone!  That night we all went to Omaha.  Tony had to be there on Wednesday for meetings so Heisman and I tagged along.  We swam in the hotel pool and went to the zoo while Tony was at work.  It was a lot of fun!  Too bad Tony was at work and not with us :(  We got to see all the animals and ride the carousel, train and sky tram.  I think Heisman's favorite things to see were the big cats (tigers, lions, etc), giraffes and sharks in the aquarium.

Fire Station

First of all, summer is here!!!!  I can't wait to spend one last summer with just me and Heisman :)  I plan on spending as much one on one time with him before baby #2 comes in October.  Speaking of baby #2, I am almost half way there!  Crazy!  We had an ultrasound yesterday and chose not to find out the gender.  I was sure the baby was a girls until yesterday.  I don't know what the ultrasound techs are looking at half the time but I swear I saw some boys parts on the baby!  Now I have no idea what this baby is!  I guess we'll find out in a few months.....

Last week Ankeny Fire Department had an open house so Heisman got to check out the trucks and even spray the fire hose.  He had lots of fun!

Happy Mother's Day!

Heisman made this present for me at daycare and he was so excited to give it to me!  He said he made some beautiful flowers for me :) He has told me over and over again today "Happy Mother's Day. I love you!"  Awww, he's so sweet and I love him so much!!!!

Another reason to celebrate is that next Mother's Day I'll be a mom of two!  A lot of you already know that but for those of you that don't, we are expecting a little pumpkin at the end of October :)  We're all very excited for Heisman to have a little brother or sister!!!
